2012 Engineers Week Banquet

The Engineers Week Banquet is held at the end of Engineers week to present and honor recipients of the
Lifetime Achievement, Engineer of the Year, Young Engineer of the Year, and Student Engineer of
the Year awards. Awards will also be presented to organizations providing Engineers Week exhibits
in the categories of technical merit, presentation, and promotion of engineering.

Speaker: Kent Peterson, P.E.
Topic: High Performance Building Design
Mr. Peterson will address and provide the building professionals with the details of requirements for
designing and engineering high performance green buildings. One will learn how to apply
high-performance green building strategies as a part of the building design process including
Standard 189.1. One will also learn how to establish and track sustainable goals for water, energy and
indoor environmental quality. His presentation will also provide coverage of building system energy
components including building envelope, HVAC, domestic water and lighting. One will also learn the
importance of commissioning, tracking and assessing building performance for ongoing high-performance
operation after occupancy. Learn what is needed for high-performance green buildings, as it relates
to the building industry in its entirety. Mr. Peterson will share with us how all engineers and
architects can impact high-performance buildings.
